Things have been bleak: Worlds servers have been offline for a couple of months now with no sign of returning anytime soon. I can't work on the "surprise" so I've got another "surprise" planned in it's place for now. When I finish my other projects that is. I lost my job so my priorities have shifted quite a bit and I have less time for KW, I hope you'll understand.

P.S. Huh... the 25th of the month 3 times in a row. Lucky streak, ain't it?

The remote host that was holding onto our font files had a major screw-up and their admins refuse to fix the issue (per usual for them...). Moved them to Neocities. Fonts should be working again.

Sorry about the absense, juggling other stuff still. The "surprise" is on hiatus until further notice, I've run into a software bug I have no idea how to fix and the chief expert on the topic is no longer interested in working with Worlds.com, so I'm on my own with the project.

New tutorial in a series for fresh users is up. I wouldn't send it to anyone yet as I haven't finished everything just yet. Oh, also, the back button on tutorial pages is now always visible.

P.S. This isn't the "special surprise" I announced 10 days ago, this is just a thing I'm doing to make KW more useful. Surprise time comes later.

Happy new year, and happy valentines day! I'm planning more content for KangWorlds soon and a UI overhaul for the site as well. Probably planning to (re)move a lot of the 88x31 advertisement links as well to clean things up a bit. I've got other stuff to finish first though. Keep an eye out because I've got a special surprise I'll be launching for Worlds and posting about here on KW in the near future.

kangworlds.net is our main domain now (I planned this sooner but for whatever reason I didn't go through with it immediately). 🦘🌎.ws may go down occasionally in the future as I work around GoDaddy's stubborn registrar. They seem to be refusing to allow forwarding with only a vague error message and no support team to get in touch with. I've had to resort to creating another page for the sole purpose of redirecting to the right URL. Apologies for any weird issues.

KangWorlds now has an emoji domain at 🦘🌎.ws. I'll be giving it a real domain as well soon but right now I just thought this was funny. If you're wondering why you have a bunch of random characters in your address bar, that's what that is. Using the Neocities subdomain will still work if you can't type the emojis out.

I went back and improved navigation for browsers with Javascript disabled. Back buttons should appear at the top of pages now instead of a giant nag message. I kept some nagging on the skins page out of necessity but it's not a big banner anymore. The banner will still show up on the home screen. These changes affect almost nobody, but what can I say, I care about the little things.

I've redone the Skins page and added one new skin. You can now click on the thumbnails to see a pop-up window that lets you test drive the skin before downloading it. The old screenshots are now gone and the new thumbnails are simply pulled from the skin's rtpanel.gif, I did that so it would be easier to keep the examples shown consistent without me having to line up perfect screenshots all of the time.

Google is trying to push for a new web standard that implements DRM onto web browsers, eliminating user agent spoofing and other "illegitimate" clients. Their excuse is that it will remove the need for hostile fingerprinting, but this is a blatant lie. This proposal will give Google and possibly other tech giants total control over what browsers are deemed "legitimate", it will hurt crawling tools like archive.is and web.archive.org and it will allow web developers to lock you into using a browser that is not free (as in freedom). The freedom of the codebase does not matter here, the browser is not free if you are not free to use it how you want without being punished.

Through the week, it has already recieved lots of backlash. Google has already implemented the API in Blink and it is going to be rolled out to various other Chromium forks in no time at all. Please spread the word. Here is a good article that summarizes what everyone needs to know, share it.

I found a really cool site full of stuff about Microsoft Comic Chat! I had actually seen the program in action reimplemented as a Discord bot a few years ago, but I didn't know it was it's own thing! Go ahead and try it, and check out Mermaid_Elizabeth's site!
